Marian Edith Peterman Daum, age 90. Passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Marian was born in Galveston, TX, on 12/16/31. She was the daughter of Leah and Irving Peterman, the second of 3 children. Marian grew up in Galveston and attended the University of Texas at Austin.

She met her husband, of blessed memory, Arthur Daum, on the beach in Galveston. They reconnected a few years later in Houston and began dating. They were married on May 3,1952.

Marian's work career included bookkeeping and administrative jobs for private schools, Camp Young Judaea, Congregation Emanu El and Congregation Beth Yeshurun.

Marian enjoyed a very active volunteer life, and was committed to this work. She gave huge amounts of time to Hadassah, CYJ Texas, as well as working with the Abe and Annie Seibel Foundation to allocate funds to Texas Hillels and to Rice University.

She, along with Arthur, were co chairs of the CYJ Camp Committee, part of the Southwest Zionist Youth Commission of Hadassah. They were part of the group that worked toward obtaining the new and permanent camp in Wimberley, when camp was gifted with funds for a permanent facility. They were instrumental in the development of the year round operations at camp. Many years were spent on camp's behalf.

She spent many years as a family volunteer for the Abe and Annie Seibel Foundation. Thanks to her hard work, the Foundation made gifts to make substantial improvements to the Hillel organization on Texas college campuses as well as a dorm dining room at Rice University, and dorms in Galveston at colleges.

Late in life she became a huge fan of painting and completed many beautiful paintings.

Marian is survived by her three children and spouses, Debbie and David Gersh, Ann and Chris Fisher and Steve and Suzie Daum, by her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Jonathan and Julie Garfunkel, Leah Fisher, Sam Fisher, Josh Daum, Jenni Daum and Nora Leigh Garfunkel.

She is also survived by her sister, Jean Rosenbaum and brother Henry Peterman and wife Betsy, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She also had very special friends, Arthur and Holle Corenblith. Marian will be laid to rest on Thursday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregation Emanu El Memorial Park Cemetery, 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77074.
