We mournfully announce the passing of Ralph Finkelstein, at the age of 98. Ralph passed away in his home in Houston on February 10, 2022 of natural causes.

Ralph was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Louis & Sadye Finkelstein on June 7, 1923. Ralph was the firstborn of eight children. Ralph was a paternal and supportive figure to his seven younger siblings following their mother's death in 1953.

Ralph was caring, kind, dependable and hard-working having careers in scrap metal, paper products and real estate. Ralph became skillful in watch and clock repair and in sculpture. Always a spiritual seeker and a student of all religions, Ralph became increasingly devoted to his religion of birth, Judaism, after his retirement. Ralph was a member of Chabad-Lubavitch. You could always rely on Ralph and his word. He was honorable and righteous throughout his life.

Ralph served our country as a sergeant in the United States Army, stationed in Guam.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Louis & Sadye Finkelstein, his sisters Naomi Schwartz & Shirley Sacks, and his brothers Mort & Frank Finkelstein.

Ralph is survived by his brothers Stanley David and Bert Finkelstein, sister Rebecca Lee Schmidt, brother-in-law Maurice Schmidt, nephews Joshua Jacob Schmidt, Jon Schwartz, and David Wayne Wightman, niece Nonya Grenader and her husband Jonathan Grenader, great nephew Sam Grenader and his family, great niece Emily Barry and her family, our paternal cousins Libby Marks and her family, Nikki Singer and her family, Shirley Skalovsky and her family, and Nonya Finkelstein.

We extend our profound and heartfelt gratitude to Ralph's wonderful caregivers, Habtu Fesehazione & Sara Seilu and their family, whose care for Ralph was tireless, gracious, and always performed with the utmost kindness.
