Dr. Marvin Milewits, 69, of Houston, passed away  2018.  Marvin is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marilyn of 41 years, children Alyssa (Mark) Faulkenberg, Sharon (Brett) Kobelin and grandchildren Mathew and Adriana Faulkenberg and Isabella, Juliette and Hunter Kobelin; his brother Martin Milewits,  mother-in-law Helen Beckman, and brother-in-law Jerry (Jamie) Beckman and many close friends and former colleagues.

Born in Ixelles, Belgium, the son of the late Israel and Julie (Brudniefski) Milewits, Dr. Milewits spent his early years in Rehovot, Israel, before moving to New Jersey.  He pursued his passion of physics at Rutgers University and furthered his education by completing his PhD in Physics at New York University in 1979.  Upon completion of his doctorate, he moved to Houston and began his career in the oil service industry.  Dr. Milewits took enormous pride and was extremely devoted in his career at Schlumberger.  He led the development of lithium and rechargeable batteries at Schlumberger for use in downhole oilfield tools for three decades.  These batteries were a key enabler for a multibillion dollar industry and were proven to be the safest in the industry.  Dr. Milewits wrote many technical papers and received multiple patents for his unique designs.  He was considered the Grandfather of lithium batteries at Schlumberger.  He was well respected worldwide and was known as an expert in this technology.

In his spare time Dr. Milewits enjoyed bowling and playing tennis on a variety of leagues and learning about astronomy.   He also had a quick wit and enjoyed sharing his humor with his dear friends and family.

God Bless you Marvin...I remember many happy times with you in Roselle,
NJ when we were young and in the process of growing up. You were a good Friend and will not be forgotten. RIP Alway's old Friend.

Feb 21, 2019 - I sent a birthday wish to Marvin this morning, but got no response. Peculiar. I did a google search and some unfortunate information popped up at the top of the page. To Marvin's family, I hope you are wrapping yourselves in happy memories.

Warmest and Sincerest Sympathies,
Brenda Bray - former SLB Co-Worker
