Samuel Louis Joachim, February 18, 1929-January 10, 2016. A loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle and friend, Poppa was the first to open his heart and his home to so many. A native Houstonian, Sam graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended the University of Houston. He served in the Air National Guard and the Army during the Korean War. Survivors include beloved wife of 65 years, Phyllis Pesses Joachim; son Stanley (Paula Friedman) Joachim; daughters Nora (Chris) Brown and Judith (Rick) Rousseau; and grandchildren: Matthew Joachim; Evan Brown; Christian (Ashley), Eric, Miriam, Jacob, Rachel, and Ryan Rousseau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Organization of Rare Diseases or the National Gaucher Foundation.
